Graffiti on brick? Show us the wall.

GraffitiMobile removes graffiti from brick and masonry for businesses, buildings, condominiums and managed properties. On a porous surface, the brick, mortar joints and condition of the facade matter just as much as the pigment.

Send the wall. The choice of method comes after.

The goal is not to make you diagnose the masonry yourself. A full view and a few close-ups already show the texture, mortar joints, graffiti and access.

    Why brick is different

Pigment can go deeper than what the eye can see.

Unlike glass or some smooth metals, brick has texture and porosity that can retain pigments. Mortar can also react differently from the face of the brick.

Principle The goal is not to use the most aggressive method. It is to achieve the best reasonable result without unnecessarily damaging the brick, mortar joints or existing finish.
    LEVEL 01
    Visible pigment

The part of the graffiti that is directly visible on the facade.

    LEVEL 02
    Brick texture

Texture, ageing and finish influence adhesion and retention.

    LEVEL 03
    Porosity

Some pigment can settle into the material’s micro-cavities.

    LEVEL 04
    Mortar

An adjacent material that can be softer or more absorbent than the brick.

    The finish changes the job

“Brick” alone does not describe the condition of the wall.

The same facade can be bare, painted, aged, sealed or made of different materials. These details influence the workable margin.

    01 Unpainted brick

Texture, density, age and visible porosity become the main factors to assess.

    02 Painted brick

The existing coating is part of the problem: graffiti removal cannot be considered separately from the paint on the wall.

    03 Mortar joints

Mortar can absorb differently and have different resistance than the surrounding brick.

    04 Mixed masonry

Brick, stone, painted surfaces, metal and other materials can all appear on the same facade.

    Brick on a commercial property

    Same material. Different building constraints.

A customer-facing storefront, an older building and a large side facade can all be brick — but they do not create the same job.

Graffiti sur une devanture commerciale urbaine
Context image · commercial property The facade is not just a wall: it is part of the building’s appearance, access and operation.
    Applications courantes

Brick is the surface. The building provides the context.

    COMMERCE
Storefronts & ground floorsHighly visible graffiti near signs, storefront glass, doors and customer traffic.
    IMMEUBLE
Older facades & shared wallsWall ageing, mortar joints and adjacent materials become more important.
    GRAND SITE
Side walls & service accessHeight, movement around the building and surface size affect the setup.
    What actually changes the result

Two brick walls can require two different decisions.

Graffiti size matters, but it is not enough. The condition of the surface and what is already on the facade can be even more important.

    01Porosity & texture

A more absorbent or highly textured surface can retain more pigment.

    02Pigment & age

Spray paint, marker, paint type and exposure can affect adhesion to the wall.

    03Masonry condition

Aged, friable or already altered brick reduces the workable margin.

    04Peinture, scellant ou ancien traitement

An existing coating can react differently from the brick itself.

    05Access & height

The property context influences the practical setup and potential cost of the job.

    The result and the wall

A “cleaner” wall is not a good result if the masonry is unnecessarily altered.

The goal is to improve the graffiti while respecting the limits of the existing surface. That is why assessment comes before promises. For walls that are repeatedly targeted, anti-graffiti protection can also be assessed.

The best reasonable result depends on the wall

A porous surface can sometimes retain a slight visible difference after the service.

More force is not automatically better

An overly aggressive approach can make the cleaned area more noticeable than the residual mark.

Mortar is part of the facade

Mortar joints should not be ignored simply because the graffiti appears to be mostly on the brick.

Photos reduce uncertainty from the start

A full view, close-up and texture photo allow us to get started without asking you for a technical diagnosis.

    FAQ · graffiti on brick

Frequently asked questions before sending photos.

    Can graffiti paint penetrate brick?
Yes. Brick is often porous and some pigments can penetrate the texture or micro-cavities of the material. The depth depends on the type of brick, its condition and the pigment.
Can graffiti be completely removed from brick?
The result depends on the surface, pigment, age of the graffiti and depth of penetration. Some jobs produce a very clean result, while some masonry may retain a visible difference.
Can graffiti removal change the colour of brick?
An overly aggressive or unsuitable method can change the appearance of a surface. Porosity, brick condition and existing treatments therefore need to be considered before the service.
Can graffiti be removed from mortar joints?
Mortar joints can be treated, but mortar can be more porous or softer than brick. It should be assessed as a distinct material from the face of the brick.
Does painted brick require a different approach?
Yes. The existing coating then becomes part of the surface to preserve or manage. Its condition and adhesion need to be considered along with the graffiti.
Is pressure washing alone enough to remove graffiti from brick?
Not necessarily. Pressure is only one possible factor, and excessive pressure may be unsuitable for some masonry. The surface should determine the approach.
Can you begin the assessment from photos?
In many cases, yes. A full view, a close-up of the graffiti and a clear photo of the brick texture and mortar joints are enough to get started.
How much does graffiti removal from brick cost?
The price depends on factors such as graffiti size, surface, access, height, pigment and masonry condition. The address and photos allow for a more relevant estimate.
Do you serve commercial buildings and property managers?
Yes. GraffitiMobile can assess a one-time job or requests from multiple properties within the service area.
